Letter 20: Soaring on Eagles’ Wings
This is Letter 20 from Rescue Mission from Heaven. There are seasons when the weight feels too heavy, when every step feels like too much. This letter was written for that very place—the place where your strength runs out. But even there, even then, Jesus doesn’t leave you to carry it alone. He offers something greater: His strength. His wings. His rest.
When You’re Too Weary to Walk
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”
(Isaiah 40:31)
Sometimes this world feels too heavy to carry.
Sometimes the floodwaters rise so high, you can barely keep your head above water.
Sometimes the storm hits so hard, you feel like you can’t take another step.
That’s when Jesus comes with a promise:
“Hope in Me—and I will lift you up.”
This is not your strength.
This is His strength.
This is not your wings.
These are His wings.
The world will tell you to fight harder, try harder, strive harder.
But Jesus whispers:
“Come to Me. Let Me carry you.”
He doesn’t expect you to be strong enough to face the storms alone.
He’s the One who lifts you higher than the floodwaters, the One who carries you above the chaos,
the One who lets you soar when your feet can’t find the ground.
I’ve felt that.
The days when the pain was too deep, the betrayal too raw, the burden too heavy.
And every time, He met me there—in the quiet, in the mess—and lifted me higher than my circumstances.
That’s what He wants to do for you, too.
He wants to renew your strength.
He wants to give you His wings.
He wants to help you run—without growing weary—and walk—without fainting.
This isn’t about fighting harder.
It’s about surrendering to Him—letting Him carry you where your own strength can’t.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I’m weary. I can’t carry this on my own. I need Your strength.
Lift me up on eagles’ wings. Help me to trust You, to rest in You, and to soar with You above the storm. Amen.
Action Step
Close your eyes. Picture Jesus lifting you up on eagles’ wings.
Imagine the view from above the chaos—higher than the flood, higher than the noise.
Rest there, and let Him carry you. [Read the next letter here.]
