Letter 36: Living with Eternity in View
This is Letter 36 from Rescue Mission from Heaven.
If the world has felt heavy or distracting, this letter is your reminder to fix your eyes on what’s eternal.
Heaven is your home. Let the light of eternity guide every step.
LIVING WITH ETERNITY IN VIEW
When the Lifeboat Points Home
This world is passing away.
Its pleasures, its pain, its promises—
all temporary.
The storms come.
The waves crash.
But eternity? Eternity lasts forever.
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.
For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18)
Living with eternity in view changes everything.
It changes how you spend your days—
how you love people—
how you handle pain—
how you hold on to Jesus in the middle of the storm.
When I started to see this life as a blink—a vapor that’s here and gone—
it made me long for heaven more than anything this world could offer.
It made me want to live every day like it was my last chance to throw someone a lifeline.
Living with eternity in view means:
Hold this world loosely.
Choose obedience over comfort.
Value souls more than success.
“Build your treasure in heaven—where moth and rust can’t destroy.” (Matthew 6:19–20)
When I live with eternity in view, I can face any storm—
because I know the lifeboat is taking me home.
I can love the unlovable—because Jesus loved me first.
I can forgive—because He forgave me.
Friend, don’t let the waves make you forget where you’re going.
This world is not your home.
You were made for eternity—
and eternity is coming soon.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me live every day with eternity in view.
Keep my eyes on You.
Remind me that this world is not my home—
and that my treasure is in heaven. Amen.
Action Step:
Write down one area of your life where you’re too focused on the temporary.
Surrender it to Jesus today—and choose to live with eternity in view.
