Letter 29: Father, Forgive Them — The Heart of Jesus
This is Letter 29 from Rescue Mission from Heaven.
Straight from the cross, Jesus spoke words that shattered the lie that anyone is too far gone. If you’ve ever thought you couldn’t be forgiven, this letter is for you.
FATHER, FORGIVE THEM
The Heart of Jesus
“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)
The weight of the world’s sin pressed down on His broken body.
The nails tore through His hands and feet.
The mocking voices filled the air—insults from the very people He came to save.
And from the cross—in the midst of unthinkable agony—Jesus prayed:
“Father, forgive them.”
Those words echo through history, reaching even the hardest heart.
They break chains of guilt, shame, and condemnation.
They shatter the lie that it’s too late—that you’re too far gone to be forgiven.
Jesus didn’t wait for people to clean themselves up.
He didn’t wait for them to apologize first.
He forgave them in the middle of their mocking, their betrayal, their sin.
That’s the kind of love He offers you.
But from the cross, Jesus is still praying:
“Father, forgive them.”
He’s still offering you a lifeboat—even when you think you don’t deserve it.
This is the heart of the rescue mission:
Jesus’s love is deeper than your sin.
His mercy is greater than your shame.
His forgiveness is waiting—right here, right now.
Don’t let guilt keep you from the lifeboat.
Don’t let pride keep you from His arms.
Don’t let the enemy tell you it’s too late.
Because even from the cross—with every breath of His dying body—Jesus was saying:
“I still want you. Come home.”
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I’ve hurt You in ways I can’t even understand. I’ve doubted You, turned away from You, and failed You.
But today, I’m choosing to believe that Your forgiveness is bigger than my sin.
Thank You for praying for me, even from the cross. Thank You for loving me when I didn’t deserve it.
I’m stepping into Your lifeboat now. Hold me close. Save me. Amen.
Action Step:
Write down one thing you believe is too big for God to forgive.
Then cross it out.
Write “Forgiven by Jesus” in its place.
Let His love break your chains today.
