The Unmasking: Finding Truth in an Age of Deception
We live in a world that feels increasingly heavy, like a fog has settled over our collective discernment. If you’ve been feeling disoriented, questioned your own reality, or felt the pressure to hide behind a "mask" just to survive, you aren't alone. In fact, you are witnessing the ancient blueprints of the enemy playing out in real-time.
The Garden of Eden
To understand the "last days," we have to look back at the first days.
The term "gaslighting" describes a form of psychological manipulation where a person is made to doubt their own perceptions, memories, or sanity.
This isn't a new tactic; it’s the oldest trick in the book. In Genesis 3, Satan didn't approach Eve with an obvious lie. He approached her with a question designed to destabilize her foundation:
"Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?"
He took the truth, twisted it by 10%, and made Eve feel like she was the one missing out. He made her doubt the goodness of her Creator. That is the essence of gaslighting—making you believe that the Truth is a lie and the Lie is the truth.
The Mask and the Fall
After the deception came the mask. Once the eyes of Adam and Eve were opened to their sin, their first instinct was to hide. They stitched together fig leaves—the first masks—to cover their vulnerability.
In these last days, the world often demands we wear masks of:
Perfection: Feeling like we must look "blessed" even when we are breaking.
Compliance: Fearing to speak the truth because of social consequences.
Self-Preservation: Hiding our faith to avoid the "fiery darts" of a culture that calls evil good and good evil.
Discerning the "Last Days"
The Bible warns us that in the end times, deception will be the primary weapon. Paul tells Timothy:
"But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." (2 Timothy 3:13)
We are living in a time of "mass gaslighting," where moral boundaries are blurred and the "mask" has become the standard uniform.
But take heart! This isn't meant to scare you; it’s meant to prepare you. When you know the play, the actors can't fool you.
How to Live Unmasked and Unshaken
Anchor in the Word: If you don't know the "True North" of Scripture, you will get lost in the fog. Use the Bible as your reality check. If the world says one thing and God says another, the world is gaslighting you.
Drop the Fig Leaves: You don't have to hide from God. He already sees behind the mask. True comfort is found in the "secret place" of the Most High, where you can be raw, honest, and vulnerable.
Trust Your Shepherd: In John 10, Jesus says His sheep know His voice. If a "voice" (whether it's media, a person, or a thought) brings confusion, fear, and self-doubt, it is likely not the Voice of Truth.
A Word of Encouragement
Friend, the enemy wants you exhausted from trying to keep your mask straight. He wants you isolated by your confusion. But God is the Spirit of Truth.
As the world grows darker, your light—your unmasked, authentic, Christ-centered light—will shine brighter. You were chosen for this specific hour. Don't let the deceiver steal your peace. The same God who looked for Adam and Eve in the garden is looking for you today, not to condemn you, but to clothe you in His righteousness so you no longer have to hide.
Stay vigilant, stay scriptural, and stay unmasked.
