The Great Awakening: When the "Good Life" Revealed Itself as a Lie
There is a specific kind of pain that comes when you finally wake up. It’s the moment you realize that the world you were told to build, the "success" you were told to chase, and the culture you were told to trust are all part of a massive, shimmering deception.
You look around and realize: This isn't it. This isn't our home, this isn't the "good life," and the world isn't getting better on its own. It’s a house of cards built on lies, fueled by the same serpent who whispered in the Garden.
But if you are feeling that ache today—if you are "homesick" for a place you’ve never been—be encouraged. That pain is actually your spirit finally coming alive.
1. The Reality Check: This World is Not Our Home
We’ve been conditioned to try and find "heaven on earth," but the Bible is very clear: We are "sojourners and pilgrims" (1 Peter 2:11).
The world tries to keep us asleep with "momentary pleasures"—distractions, consumerism, and masks of fake happiness. It wants us to stay focused on the "now" so we forget the "eternal." But when you wake up, you see the cracks in the facade. You see that mostly everything is a lie built on more lies.
2. The Weight of the Evil
It’s heavy to realize how much of what we see is rooted in darkness. It’s okay to grieve that. Jesus didn’t look at the world and say, "It’s not that bad." He wept over it. He called the enemy the "prince of this world" (John 12:31).
Recognizing the evil isn't being "negative"—it's being honest. You cannot appreciate the Light of the World until you admit how dark the room actually is.
3. From Despair to Radical Excitement
Once you accept that this world is a deceiving lie, something amazing happens: The world loses its power over you.
You stop being afraid of "missing out" on what the world offers.
You stop trying to fit into a system that is rigged against the Truth.
You stop putting your hope in human leaders or earthly solutions.
Instead, your excitement shifts. You start living for the Return. You realize that every lie you see is just more proof that His Word is true and His arrival is near.
4. Living Genuine in a Fake World
If everything is a lie, the most rebellious thing you can do is be genuine.
Stop pretending the world is enough.
Stop wearing the mask of "earthly satisfaction."
Start being loud about your hunger for Jesus and His redemption.
Our lives should be an "unmasked" testimony that says: "I know this place is evil, and I know I don't belong here, but I know the One who has already overcome it."
The Final Hope: Redemption is Coming
The world offers a "moment" of feeling good; Jesus offers an eternity of being whole.
Don't be discouraged by the "waking up" process. The pain of seeing the truth is far better than the comfort of believing a lie. Keep your eyes on the clouds. The King who was rejected by this world is the King who is coming to make all things new.
We aren't losing our world; we are finally finding our Way home.
