The Treasure in the Field

The Treasure in the Field — Why Finding Jesus Costs Everything

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”

— Matthew 13:44

Most people don’t think of Jesus as a hidden treasure.

But Jesus said something radically different — the way into His Kingdom is like finding a treasure in a field… so valuable that you’d sell everything to have it.

And that’s the part many don’t talk about:

It costs something.

The Treasure Is Hidden

Jesus didn’t say the treasure was sitting on a shelf in plain sight.

He said it was buried in a field. Covered. Missed by many. Passed over by most.

That means:

It’s not flashy.

It’s not popular.

It’s not promoted by the world.

You have to go looking for it.

You have to want it.

You have to hunger for it.

You have to dig through the dirt of lies, religion, deception, comfort, and pride — until you find it.

When You Truly Find It… You Give Everything

Jesus said the man who found the treasure sold everything he had to buy that field.

That’s not casual belief.

That’s surrender.

It means:

Turning from the world.

Letting go of self.

Dying to your old life.

Laying down idols, sin, comfort, and control.

This treasure costs something.

But it is worth everything.

And here’s the miracle:

The man gave it all up with joy.

Because once you really see the treasure that is Jesus — you’ll gladly trade your whole world to be His.

There’s a Treasure waiting.

And He’s worth everything.
